Our mission is to help educate the community about workforce issues, inform partners and decision makers about our strategic plan, and issue a call to action for everyone interested in the quality of life in Polk County.
Polk Works addresses the needs of businesses by providing workforce training, developing comprehensive
career centers – Polk Works One-Stop Centers – for job seekers and employers, and funding youth
employment preparation programs.
Successfully addressing workforce issues requires mustering the energy and resources of the community.
Workforce issues are education issues, social services issues, economic development issues and political
and legislative issues. Through our annual State of the Workforce report, Polk Works identifies these issues as a means to call the community to action. By annually updating and publishing State of the Workforce information, we show how we are doing in addressing the issues. We invite the community to join in our activities and, specifically, in our strategic planning efforts. Without broad community input and support, none of our initiatives can succeed. .
