In 2005, the firm of Smith, Grimsley, Bauman, Pinkerton, Petermann & Shaw, formed by the late Walter J. Smith in 1961, merged with the firm of Anchors, Foster, McInnis & Keefe, established in 1980. The new firm of Anchors Smith Grimsley provides a full range of legal services in this rapidly developing area of Florida, particularly in the Fort Walton Beach, Destin and South Walton County areas of the Panhandle.
Our transactions expertise includes real estate, tax, banking, governmental, corporate, regulatory and administrative law. The transaction side of the firm is complimented with an extensive and full range civil, criminal and administrative trial practice.
Members of the firm have provided their time to the legal profession and the civic community through service on the Judicial Nominating Commissions for trial and appellate judges, the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, the Florida Bar Board of Bar Examiners, the First Judicial Circuit Committee on Legal Professionalism, and presidencies of the Okaloosa Walton Bar Association and the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce. Members of the firm include former and present city attorneys, school board attorneys, assistant state attorneys, deputy general counsels to the governor and several of the firm members are certified by the Florida Supreme Court as Circuit Court mediators.
